San Diego, Calif.--The Accredited Gemologists Association (AGA) Tucson Conference, to be held on Feb. 4 in Tucson, Ariz., will offer attendees groundbreaking new research on fluorescence, tanzanite, corundum and beryl, the organization has announced.

Specifically, the conference will cover the problems associated with over-grading the color of blue-fluorescent diamonds, distinguishing naturally blue tanzanite from heat-treated tanzanite and the latest techniques for identifying heated corundum in all of its forms.

In addition, the conference will delve more deeply into the increasingly complex world of beryl--natural and synthetic--as well as instill more confidence in using classic gemological techniques in today's high-tech world.

The conference will conclude with the Annual Dinner-Dance and Presentation of the Antonio Bonanno Award For Excellence in Gemology to Christopher Smith.

To register for the conference, call (619) 501-5444 or visit the AGA's Web site, AccreditedGemologists.org.
