ICA names poster contest winners

Dubai, United Arab Emirates—Winners of the International Colored Gemstone Association's (ICA) fourth annual poster contest promoting colored gemstones have been announced.

One hundred and ten posters from 22 countries were held on display at the ICA's 12th bienniel Congress, held from May 5-9 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

Participants and guests of the congress voted on their favorites, and the top three winners were announced at the ICA's gala dinner on May 9.

Taking the top prize of $1,500 was the "Go Color—Fruits and Gemstones" poster, with design and photography by Yekaterina Sverdlova of Russia. Second prize, and $750, went to "Play with Colors" by Priyanka Sharma of India. Rounding out the top three was Hemant Baweja of India, for his "Magic of Colors" poster.

A citation was also awarded to Ambarine Bukharey of Pakistan for her "Color...Precious as Life" poster.

Yehuda Kassif, poster contest founder and organizer, said in a statement that the concept behind the competition is to look for new and creative ideas to promoted colored gemstones. He said that the contest also illustrates a global outlook on color, which transcends language through emotion-packed visuals understood by all.
