Tucson, Ariz.--Both the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) and the American Gem Trade Association (AGTA) will offer a host of educational seminars and events at the upcoming gem fairs in Tucson, Ariz.

On Feb. 7, the AGTA Seminar Series will present a lecture titled "Retailers at Risk...Are you Legal?"

The seminar, given by American Gemological Laboratories (AGL) President C.R. "Cap" Beesley and AGL Vice President and Chief Gemologist Christopher Smith, will cover enhancement-disclosure policy, practice and problems.

The first part of the lecture will include the many treatments currently performed on colored gemstones and which treatments need to be disclosed as per the Federal Trade Commission. The second part of the lecture will address why it is important to disclose all treatments and how to do it without panicking clients.

The lecture is slated for 1:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m. in the Coconino Room in the Tucson Convention Center.
