Christopher P. Smith has completed his acquisition of the American Gemological Laboratories.

New York--Christopher P. Smith, former vice president and chief gemologist of the American Gemological Laboratories (AGL), has completed his acquisition of the lab.

The new AGL will retain most of its original team, including Smith, Elizabeth Quinn Darenius, Maria Frances, Sun Joo Chung and Bilal Mahmood, providing a seamless transition and continuation of services, according to a media release.

"I am very pleased that we have been able to finalize the sale and purchase of AGL," Smith said in the release. "In the past few weeks, we have been working to improve our office space and efficiency, so we are now poised to fully satisfy the needs of our clients and support for the industry."

The AGL also has released its first-ever official Tariff List, which offers a breakdown of its service fees.

According to the AGL, it has greatly simplified the fee structure and offers highly competitive pricing.

AGL services include its trademarked Prestige Report, high-quality identification and enhancement, country-of-origin determinations and quality grading.

In addition, its trademarked FastTrack service of GemBriefs provides a convenient format and low-cost option providing high-value return for stones that may not traditionally receive authenticity and enhancement documentation from an independent third party.
