Tahitian Pearl Trophy winners announced

Rhode Island—The Cultured Pearl Association of America, which represents Pearls de Tahiti in the United States, has announced the winners of the 2007-2008 "The Song of the Stars" Tahitian Pearl Trophy—North American division.

The winners in the following categories are:

Ring: First place: Avi Raz, A and Z Pearls; second place: Adam Neeley, Adam Neeley Designs.

Male Jewelry: First place: Larry C. Y. Ho, Maemura Designs; second place: Yutao Liu, Yl Consulting Designs; third place: Nina Basharova, Albert Asher Pearls.

Necklace: First place: Reena Ahluwalia; second place: Maggie Davidson, A Thousand Visions Studio; third place: Jeong-Seon Han.

Parure (set of three): First place: Lisa Krikawa, Krikawa Designs Inc.; second place: Margarette Elie, Elie Design.

Pendant: First place: Erica Courtney Inc.; second place: Adam Neeley, Adam Neeley Designs; third place: Nina Basharova, Albert Asher Pearls.

Brooch: First place: Nina Basharova, Albert Asher Pearls; second place: Reena Ahluwalia; third place: Margarette Elie, Elie Design.

Bracelet: First place: Evelyn Huang, Evelyn H. Jewelry Inc.; second place: Reena Ahluwalia; third place: Tara and Sons.

Accessory: First place: Yutao Liu, Yl Consulting Designs; second place: Larry C. Y. Ho, Maemura Designs; third place: Margarette Elie, Elie Design.

Earrings: First place: Celine Boure, Kokass; second place: Hugh Power, Hugh Power Designs.

Special: First place: Larry C. Y. Ho, Maemura Designs.

Judging for the event was held at the Terrace Club in New York City on Aug. 22. The jury included Laurie Schechter, Stylists and Co.; Elena Mauer, Bridal Guide; Jean Francois Bibet, Van Cleef and Arpels; Amanda Gizzi, Jewelry Information Center; Kathleen Fritzpatrick, freelance editor; Hedda T. Schupak, JCK and Fran Mastoloni, Frank Mastoloni and Sons.

The first-place winners will now submit their entries to be judged by the international jury.
