Thai traders to make splash in India

Mumbai, India—The Thai Gem and Jewelry Traders Association (TGJTA) has innovative plans for its pavilion at the upcoming India International Jewellery Show, scheduled for Aug. 7-11 in Mumbai.

The TGJTA pavilion will be decorated in traditional Thai style, housing 35 booths and 28 different companies exhibiting loose colored gemstones, colored-gemstone jewelry, diamond jewelry and high-end designer pieces.

Pavilion visitors will be able to enjoy a variety of attractions and promotional activities, including a rest at the Thai Foot Massage Center.

In addition, the pavilion will host a drawing each of the five days of the show, with two visitors winning a trip from Mumbai to Bangkok, Thailand, or a gemological course in colored-gemstone identification at the Gem and Jewellery Institute of Thailand (GIT), the country's prime gemology research and teaching institution.

In addition, the pavilion will raffle off 50 lunch coupons every day.

Boonyong Assarasakorn, chairman of the TGJTA's Indian Region Working Committee, says the IIJS is viewed as one of the most important shows on the TGJTA calendar.

"The Indian jewelry consumer market is diverse, multi-cultural and continuously growing. We want to market our products here and we expect to see Thai gems and jewelry sales grow significantly in India," Assarasakorn said. "Our pavilion is a showcase where Indian and other retailers can find all they wish for."

The IIJS is being held at the NSE Complex, Goregaon, Mumbai.
