Russian Delegation to visit ICA show in Dubai

New York—The International Colored Gemstone Association (ICA) has announced that an official delegation of Russian buyers will visit the ICA International Gem Show Dubai, slated for Oct. 13-15, 2008.

Alexey Shcherbina, publisher of Jewellery Review Magazine, agreed to organize a delegation after ICA Executive Director Barbara Wheat recently paid a visit to the Golden Ring of Russia Festival, which took place in Kostroma, Russia, an area responsible for 40 percent of Russia's jewelry production.

"Sourcing quality colored gemstones is a priority for Russian jewelry designers and manufacturers," said Shcherbina, who is also the organizer of the Golden Ring of Russia Festival, in a press release issued last week. "The enthusiastic response to the news of the new ICA Gem Show from many top people in the Russian gem and jewelry industry was an indication that organizing a delegation would be a welcome idea."

Wheat said that the ICA has great expectations for the visit.

"This will bring additional business potential to our exhibitors as our show constitutes a major arena for buyers in search of quality stones from reliable dealers," Wheat said, adding that the ICA will continue to cooperate with the Russian jewelry industry on other projects through its long-standing relation with Shcherbina.

Discussions are underway to organize other delegations to the ICA Gem Show, with further announcements expected in the coming weeks, the release said.
