Paso Robles, Calif.--The American Gem Trade Association (AGTA) and MVI Marketing's Jewelry Consumer Opinion Council (JCOC) have announced the results of the first-ever "Consumer's Choice Honors," the most recent addition to the annual AGTA Spectrum Awards.
Earlier this fall, the JCOC created and deployed a consumer market research study to select the winning choices. JCOC consumer panel members identified one winning style in the five categories of the traditional AGTA Spectrum Awards: bridal, business/day wear, classical, evening wear and men's wear.
"The consumer is the most important voice in the jewelry industry and their opinion affects everything we do," MVI President Liz Chatelain sadi in a media release. "We are excited by the choices our JCOC panelists have made, and we congratulate the creative minds behind the winning jewelry designs."
The winner in the bridal category is Khai Le of San Diego's Charles Koll Jewellers. Le designed a platinum ring featuring a 2.71-carat cushion-cut blue sapphire accented with diamonds.
Pamela Froman of Los Angeles-based Pamela Froman Fine Jewelry was chosen as the winner in the business/day wear category. Her design is a necklace crafted in 18-karat white, rose and green gold featuring a golden South Sea pearl, a blue-gray Tahitian pearl and a green-gray Tahitian pearl, all accented with diamonds.
In the classical category, Richard Krementz of Richard Krementz Gemstones in Springfield, N.J., was selected for his platinum ring featuring a 3.44-carat champagne diamond accented with white diamonds.
Dennis deJongh of deJongh in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., won in the evening wear category for his platinum pendant featuring a 17.06-carat aquamarine accented with an iolite and diamonds on a strand of freshwater pearls.
Finally, Robert Pelliccia of J.R. Dunn Jewelers in Lighthouse Point, Fla., was chosen in the men's wear category for his platinum and 22-karat yellow gold ring featuring a 1.75-carat emerald-cut alexandrite accented with diamond baguettes.
The five winning designers will be honored at the AGTA GemFair Tucson in February 2009 during the AGTA Spectrum Awards Dinner Dance.
