AGTA Spectrum Awards offers NYC drop-off program

Dallas—The American Gem Trade Association (AGTA), organizers of the annual Spectrum and Cutting Edge Awards, have announced two new changes to the 2008 Spectrum competition.

A drop-off entry option will now be available to New York City residents, and all entries submitted to the Spectrum competition will be photographed and featured on the association's Web site.

New York City residents may drop off their submissions in person at the AGTA Gemological Testing Center (GTC) on Tuesday, Oct. 9. Deliveries must be made in person, and to qualify for the drop-off option, entry forms and payments must be received at the AGTA office in Dallas by Sept. 25.

Open to all entrants is the option of having one's submission featured on AGTA's Web site. Each entry will be photographed, and entrants will also have the opportunity to add a link to their Web site. Entrants who are not interested in this option can decline.

In addition, all entries will be displayed at a media event that will be attended by editors, fashion stylists, producers and costume designers.

The competition is open to all jewelry designers and lapidary artists throughout the United States and Canada. Any jewelry produced after October 2006, and not previously entered into an AGTA competition, may be entered. Entries must be finished pieces; drawings will not be accepted.

For those participating in the New York drop-off program, deliveries must be made at the AGTA GTC office located at 18 E. 48th St., Suite 502, in New York between the hours of 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Entries must be picked up on Tuesday, Oct. 16 between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.

For more information, contact Joyann Cooke at (800) 972-1162. To download an entry form, visit the AGTA's Web site, Agta.org.
