Dallas—The American Gem Trade Association (AGTA) has announced the appointment of Marina Epelboym to gemologist for the AGTA Gemological Testing Center (GTC) team.

Epelboym brings to the AGTA GTC more than 12 years of gemological-laboratory experience. She studied chemistry in the Ukraine, specializing in conducting analyses of multi-elemental samples by spectral methods. She later joined the European Gemological Laboratory (EGL USA), performing fancy-colored-diamond analyses and participating in gem identification, including country-of-origin determinations. She also served as head officer in the diamond-final-grading department of the EGL USA.

In 2003, Epelboym was awarded a Foreign Government Award, and in 2006, received a certificate of attendance in modern micro-analytical techniques for gemologists from Kingston University in London.

"With Marina, we will have yet another top gemologist with extensive experience in the industry, making the laboratory stronger than ever," AGTA GTC Laboratory Director Dr. Lore Kiefert said in a statement.
