Tiffany and Co. showcases rare collection it first introduced

On June 15, Tiffany and Co. in Nashville, Tenn., will debut a 10-day exhibit featuring morganite, kunzite, tanzanite and tsavorite—colored stones that were first introduced to the world by the luxury jeweler. While light pink morganite was discovered by the company's chief gemologist Dr. George Frederick Kunz in the early 20th century, the green-colored tsavorite debuted more recently in 1974.

In addition to other historical events, the discovery of these four gems has significantly contributed to Tiffany's world-renowned status. Amy Miller, store director at Nashville's Tiffany and Co., urges people to come and see one-of-a-kind statement pieces that can't be seen at any other jewelry store. Included in the 50 pieces that will be shown on Friday at the Mall at Green Hills are: a choker with baguette- and bullet-cut kunzites set in platinum, a necklace with pear-shaped tanzanites set in platinum, diamond and tsavorite drop earrings, and leaf- and flower-emulating tsavorite jewels.
