Dubai, United Arab Emirates—The International Colored Gemstone Association (ICA) has debuted the ICA Show in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, making it the first exhibition dedicated to colored gemstones in the Gulf region and the Middle East.

The show opened on Oct. 14, with visitors from across the globe gathering for the event. The largest number of visitors hailed from the United Arab Emirates, Lebanon, Oman and Saudi Arabia, as well as from Germany, Italy, India, Thailand and the United States.

More than 100 of the world's leading gemstone suppliers are exhibiting at the show, with loose diamonds and pearls also on display by exhibitors from 20 countries, including Australia, Brazil, France, French Polynesia, Germany, Hong Kong and India.

Organized by the ICA under the patronage of the Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC), the show will continue through Oct. 15 at the five-star Al Bustan Rotana Hotel in Dubai.

Officiating at the show's opening ceremony were ICA President Andrew Cody and DMCC Executive Director for Colored Stones and Pearls Gaiti Rabbani.

"In spite of the uncertainty in the world's financial markets, we had an excellent turn out," Cody said of the opening day. "Colored gemstones are in high demand, and I am confident we will see increased demand going forward as major fashion houses and designers around the world focus on color."
