GIA announces Alumni Auction and Dance Party

Carlsbad, Calif.--The Gemological Institute of America's (GIA) annual Alumni Auction and Dance Party will be held on Friday, Feb. 6, at the Marriott University Park Hotel in Tucson, Ariz.

This year's theme will be "Sunset in the Desert."

The evening will include the official presentation of the Richard T. Liddicoat Scholarship, the GIA Alumni International Awards, silent and live auctions, dinner and dancing.

The GIA requests that individuals donate auction items. GIA Alumni chapters can also participate in the "gift basket challenge" by creating a themed basket to be contributed.

All auction proceeds benefit the Alumni Endowment Fund and are invested in perpetuity. Interest earned on the fund may be used for special alumni programs.

"Thanks to the generosity of our donors and enthusiastic bidders, GIA has raised more than $100,000 for our Alumni Endowment Fund over the years," GIA Alumni Relations Manager Rose McKenna said in a media release. "It helps us expand the many services to our graduates."
