New York—American Gem Laboratories (AGL), a subsidiary of Collectors Universe, unveiled its trademarked Fast Track Program for certifying colored gemstones at the JA New York Winter Show.

The new certifications are designed to increase consumer confidence and boost sales of colored gemstones, and will complement AGL's trademarked Prestige-level reports, according to an AGL press release. The reports will include guaranteed identification information, and disclosure information that is compliant with all Federal Trade Commission (FTC) rules for disclosure of gemstone enhancements. Additional services include guaranteed grading of color and clarity.

Colored-gemstone sellers can choose from three different programs:

* Fast Track I, which applies to rubies, emeralds and sapphires up to 1.5 carats and some alternative gemstones up to 3 carats. The program includes guaranteed identification and FTC disclosure and starts at $25 per stone with a 25 percent discount for 50 or more stones.

* Fast Track II, which covers rubies, emeralds and sapphires up to 2.5 carats and some alternative gemstones up to 5 carats. The program adds guaranteed color and clarity grading and starts at $75 per stone with a 25 percent discount for 25 or more stones.

* Fast Track Premium, which covers rubies, emeralds and sapphires up to 3.5 carats and some alternative gemstones up to 10 carats. This in-depth program adds origin type and starts at $125 per stone with a 25 percent discount for 10 or more stones.
