DGSE to host estate jewelry, watch auction
November 21, 2007
Dallas—DGSE Companies, a wholesaler, retailer and auctioneer of fine watches, jewelry, diamonds, precious metals and rare coins, has announced it will hold its first-ever Estate Jewelry and Timepiece Auction Sale next month. The Dec. 1-2 event will be held at Superior Galleries in Beverly Hills, Calif. Beginning in 2008, the show will occur biannually, with editions taking place in the late spring and fall. The December auction will include almost 900 lots, offering a wide variety of vintage and antique fine watches, diamonds, jewelry, objets d'vertu and silver, ranging in price from $100 to more than $50,000 each. Among the featured items are a hinged, openwork foliate pendant with small round diamonds throughout, as well as a ladies' 9-carat diamond ring featuring an 8.50-carat round diamond center stone flanked by diamond baguettes. For men, a top highlight is a Rolex "Pearlmaster" watch with a mother-of-pearl face highlighted by small round diamonds. Another point of interest is an original "Rat Pack" cigarette case in 18-karat gold, once owned by Frank Sinatra and inscribed with the names of the individuals who gifted the case to him, including Lauren Bacall, Humphrey Bogart, Judy Garland, Sidney Luft, Hjordis and David Niven, Gloria and Michael Romanoff, and Jimmy Van Heusen—a group referred to as "The Holmby Hills Rat Pack" or "The Original Rat Pack."
