Las Vegas—American Gem Society (AGS) Laboratories has elected Ronnie Cox as the new chairman of its board of directors, replacing Clayton Bromberg who served as chairman since 2005.

The board unanimously elected Cox at its recent quarterly meeting.

Cox has played an integral role in the founding and leadership of AGS Laboratories, and most recently served as vice chairman on the board.

"Ronnie Cox has been a valuable member of our board of directors," AGS Laboratories President and Chief Executive Officer Frank Dallahan said in a media release. "He's a tremendous resource, and the management team at the lab is fortunate to have someone with his wisdom and insight at the helm of our board."

Cox is the owner and operator of John R. Cox and Sons Inc. in Sweetwater, Texas. He graduated with a degree in economics from Rice University and is a Graduate Gemologist and a Certified Gemologist of the AGS.

In addition to his commitment to the AGS, Cox is very involved in the community of Sweetwater. He served as president of the Chamber of Commerce, the Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital board of directors, Sweetwater Industrial Foundation and the Sweetwater Enterprise for Economic Development.

"Clayton is a hard act to follow, but I'm excited about taking over the reigns," Cox said. "I am proud to be the chairman of the board for the only laboratory founded to protect the consumer, and the laboratory with the highest grading standards in the industry. It's a great honor."

The AGS provides diamond-grading reports based on the highest standards of diamond grading and offers the only scientifically peer reviewed, objective and repeatable cut-grade method in the industry.
