New York—The Gem Certification and Assurance Lab (GCAL) and the American Gemological Laboratories (AGL) have announced an agreement with Malca-Amit USA LLC to use its worldwide delivery system to enhance international submission operations.

Malca-amit.com operates security services with 53 offices in 23 countries. The company will initially accept diamond and colored-gemstone submissions for authentication and grading in 18 offices in Europe, the Middle East and Asia.

"We believe this is a key relationship for our diamond services since these markets are worldwide in scope," GCAL President Donald Palmieri said in a statement. "By using the bricks-and-mortar of Malca-Amit, a highly respected security service in the jewelry markets, we now are better able to extend our reach into the important diamond centers of the world."

Markets to be served include Antwerp, Belgium; Bangkok, Thailand; Brussels, Belgium; Dubai, United Arab Emirates; Geneva, Switzerland; Hong Kong; London; Mumbai, India; Surat, India; Tel Aviv, Israel; Toronto; and Zurich, Switzerland.

"With the international systems of Malca-Amit, which often include door-to-door service, we will be able to offer AGL authentication and grading services as close and convenient as the lobby of the gemstone dealers' offices," AGL President C.R. "Cap" Beesley said. "This is part of our continuing development with international dealers and the manufacturing community so that we can easily include third-party certification along with colored-gemstone jewelry that the consumer receives, thereby increasing confidence in the retail purchase and enhancing the opportunity for additional purchases in the future."

Malca-Amit Vice President Shlomo Malka said the company is pleased to work with GCAL and the AGL, and anticipates a long relationship.
