Antwerp, Belgium—Anyone interested in attending the fifth annual Antwerp Diamond Conference can now sign up on the Internet.

The conference, titled "Diamonds, A Symbol of Value," focuses on understanding how the gap between a diamond's basic worth and its perceived worth expands and contracts.

"There is the diamond's basic value, determined largely by the cost of mining the gem and then producing the polished product. There is the perceived value, reliant on the regard in which the consumer holds the diamond. And then there are the underlying sets of values, all of which have to be defended if the perceived value is to achieve its maximum potential," Antwerp World Diamond Centre Chief Executive Officer Freddy J. Hanard said in a media release.

Scheduled speakers for the event, to be held in Antwerp, Belgium, from Nov. 17-18, include Virgin brand founder Sir Richard Branson, De Beers Group of Companies Managing Director Gareth Penny and Philippe Pascal, chief executive officer of LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton watch and jewelry.

Other slated speakers are David Brimson, general manager of European strategy and brand experience for Lexus; Richard Hytner, deputy chairman of advertising agency Saatchi and Saatchi; Cartier President and CEO Bernard Fornas and Sergey Vybornov, president of Alrosa Co. Ltd.

"Once again, Antwerp has attracted an impressive speakers' panel to address the hot issues moving the diamond world," Hanard said.
