WDC's Izhakoff receives first Rapaport Award

Las Vegas—In honor of his longtime commitment to social and corporate responsibility in the diamond industry, World Diamond Council (WDC) Chairman Eli Izhakoff was given the first "Rapaport Award" at the JCK Las Vegas show last week.

Izhakoff received the award from Rapaport Group Chairman Martin Rapaport during his annual State of the Diamond Industry Conference at the show.

The award recognizes outstanding individuals and organizations for their service to the diamond industry. In his role at the WDC, Izhakoff has spearheaded efforts to eliminate conflict diamonds and to protect the integrity of the industry.

"Eli Izhakoff has devoted his career to serving the public interest. His efforts to unite the diamond industry in support of the Kimberley Process and assist government implementation of controls that eliminate conflict diamonds is worthy of praise," Rapaport stated. "Our award is made to recognize Eli's contributions and to encourage others to follow in his footsteps."
