IDL to kick-off operations in India

Dubai, United Arab Emirates—International Diamond Laboratories (IDL) will officially launch operations at the India International Jewellery Show (IIJS), set for Aug. 30-Sept. 3 in Mumbai, India.

The IDL officially launches on Aug. 30 during an invitation-only event at the Hilton Towers in Mumbai.

"The choice to launch International Diamond Laboratories in Mumbai underlines the importance of the Indian community to the diamond business," IDL Chief Executive Officer Peter Meeus said in a statement. "We are excited to present our products first to the world's leading manufacturing center and the world's fastest growing retail market."

The IDL will host two seminars at the show. The first, on Aug. 31 at noon, will highlight the new technology the lab has developed to increase consistency in diamond grading. Another seminar on the IDL's products and services will be held on Sept. 2 at 4 p.m.

The IDL Mumbai office will be located in Opera House, the heart of the Indian diamond business, on the fifth floor of Mani Mahal Building on Mathew Road.

In an earlier announcement, the IDL named Samit Bhatta as general manager of India and the Middle East.
