IDI promotes Chait to chief information officer

Ramat Gan, Israel--The Israel Diamond Institute Group of Companies (IDI) has announced the promotion of Orna Chait to the position of deputy managing director and chief information officer.

Chait joined the IDI in November 2007 as the group's portal manager. In her new position, she will be responsible for information technology and the IDI's online services.

The group said in a media release that Chait's promotion is in keeping with the IDI's policy of developing the area of information technology, as well as focusing efforts and resources on the Internet.

"The global diamond industry has undergone a revolution in recent years and is increasingly turning to IT and trade through the Internet," IDI Chairman Moti Ganz said in a media release. "We attribute great importance to this area and are confident that Orna Chait will continue to develop it in the future."

Chait holds a master's degree in computer technology from Bar-Ilan University. She was previously manager of the Portal Unit at the Israel Export Institute and has been a lecturer in the Informatics Department of Beit Berl College as well as the Center for Continuing Education at Tel Aviv University.
