Antwerp, Belgium--The HRD Antwerp-Diamond Lab has a new diamond certificate that features enhanced security measures, a refined cut grade and is able to be retrieved and downloaded online.

The lab will begin issuing the certificates on Jan. 5, according to a release from the Antwerp, Belgium-based lab.

"This new certificate is the result of years of research, and it was only introduced at the point in time in which we were convinced that we were offering our clients a significantly improved service," HRD Antwerp General Manager George Brys said in a media release. "This in no way discounts the quality of integrity of the certificates that it is replacing. Our goal is to add services on a continual basis."

The new certificates feature line structures, a watermark, an embossed logo, fluo marks and micro text, some of which are visible only when using a loupe or under UV light.

The refined cut grade will include the ranking of "excellent" for the first time and is a more comprehensive analysis of cut than previously included on HRD Antwerp diamond-grading reports.

In addition, the HRD Antwerp Certificate Link allows all HRD Antwerp diamond certificates, diamond-identification reports and diamond-color certificates issued after Jan. 1, 2005, to be retrieved online, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Documents are available in Arabic, Cantonese, English, Mandarin or Turkish.

In addition to launching its new diamond certificates, HRD Antwerp recently announced that it is expanding its Lab Link service to New York.

Lab Link connects the HRD Antwerp-Diamond Lab to trading centers around the world.

Working with partner Malca Amit, Lab Link picks up the diamonds at clients' offices, sends them to Antwerp for grading and then returns them to clients with certificates.

Lab Link already operates in Hong Kong, India, Israel, Mumbai and Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
