IGC Group to distribute S. African Diamonds brand
October 09, 2008
Chicago—Antwerp, Belgium-based Diamond Trading Co. (DTC) sightholder IGC Group has acquired a worldwide manufacturing and distribution license for the jewelry marketed under the Private Collection of South African Diamonds brand, according to a release from the company. The South African brand program is owned, managed and operated by SA Gems, a member of the FestDiamond DTC sightholder group. The brand is named after its South African-sourced loose diamonds. Chris LaTrobe of SA Gems said the IGC's jewelry manufacturing division has developed a global supply chain that sets the standards for quality and efficiency in the industry, and that the company's loose diamonds are of world-class quality. He also said their customer base would benefit from the partnership. "We very much admire the company and what they are doing in Africa today," LaTrobe said. "We believe our existing customer base will benefit enormously with this agreement, and we are excited about the possibility of extending our brand to European and Asian consumers." The IGC Group's Luc Claes also said the new partnership will be beneficial to his company. "We expect that SA Gems extensive 20-plus years of experience in marketing diamonds from South Africa will be a significant benefit for our new Botswana diamond production and that their selling technology and proven marketing strategies will provide our clients with a new level of selling efficiency and retail excitement."
