GCAL shows off new digs, welcomes Nancy Robey

New York—The Gem Certification and Assurance Lab (GCAL) opened new state-of-the-art facilities last month and welcomed aboard jewelry-industry veteran Nancy Robey.

The company provides certified diamond grading, which includes its proprietary Gemprint identification, direct assessment of light performance, branding opportunities and custom certificates.

"We pride ourselves on being at the forefront of technological advancements in our industry," GCAL President Don Palmieri said in a statement. "Our new facilities signify a new phase of progressive growth for us as we are now more equipped to meet the needs and anticipate the demands of our industry while servicing the consuming public."

Robey, who joined as chief marketing officer of GCAL and its parent company Collectors Universe, brings luxury and jewelry-marketing experience to the table. Her new role includes spearheading the growth and development of GCAL's gem and jewelry business both domestically and internationally, and exploring other high-end luxury markets.

"I am enthusiastic about leveraging my skills with the significant resources of Collectors Universe for GCAL and AGL in the jewelry markets," she said. "I not only believe in the phenomenal and highly necessary work of GCAL, I also am passionate about helping to expand their markets and develop powerful strategic alliances."
