AGL, GCAL to sponsor JFC charity raffles

New York—American Gemological Laboratories (AGL) and the Gem Certification and Assurance Lab (GCAL) will team up with Jewelers for Children (JFC) to raise funds for the organization during Las Vegas market week.

The labs, both subsidiaries of Collectors Universe Inc., will sponsor a number of charity raffles at all the major Las Vegas jewelry shows to benefit the children's organization, including: a plasma-screen television raffle, JCK show, booth L59; a "Dream Team" makeover raffle, Couture show, booths 132-133; a plasma-screen television raffle, Luxury by JCK, Venetian Hotel, AGL/GCAL Oasis Lounge, Level 5 Ballroom; collectible, original autographed memorabilia raffle, Premiere, Venetian Hotel, AGL/GCAL Oasis Lounge, Marcello Ballroom, Level 4; and collectible, original autographed memorabilia raffle, JCK show, Prestige Promenade, AGL/GCAL Oasis Lounge.

In addition to the raffles, AGL President Cap Beesley and GCAL President Don Palmieri will donate original, autographed sports and Hollywood memorabilia for drawings at JFC's Facets of Hope Dinner on June 3 at the Bellagio Hotel.

"As a JFC board member, I am thrilled to be able to support JFC in this manner," Collectors Universe Chief Marketing Officer Nancy Robey said in a media release. "Our lab presidents approached me to up their support for JFC this year, and Cap Beesley, president of AGL, and Don Palmieri, president of GCAL, stepped up to the plate and pledged matching funds for all $100 raffle tickets sold."

Each raffle ticket comes with a teddy bear wearing a shirt that displays the JFC, AGL and GCAL logos.

"GCAL is proud to be associated with the great charitable works of Jewelers for Children," Palmieri said. "And we are delighted to enlist our colleagues in this fund-raising effort for the benefit of thousands of children helped annually."

Established eight years ago, JFC has raised more than $23 million for programs to help children in need.

"JFC's success is due to the continuing generosity of jewelry trade organizations such as AGL and GCAL, jewelry and watch manufacturing companies, jewelry retail stores, individual jewelry professionals and jewelry consumers, JFC Executive Director David L. Rocha said. "We are thrilled to have the support of the entire Collectors Universe family in helping JFC bring smiles to kids in need."
