AWDC names chief marketing officer

Antwerp, Belgium—The Antwerp World Diamond Centre (AWDC), formerly the HRD, has announced the appointment of Monique Van Trappen to chief marketing officer, effective Feb. 15.

Van Trappen will be responsible for the organization's marketing strategy and reinforcing the image of Antwerp as a world diamond center. The AWDC oversees the diamond industry in Belgium.

Van Trappen, 57, brings 35-plus years of marketing, advertising and management experience to the AWDC. She has worked at prominent advertising and marketing agencies, including LVH Alliance, Garbarski Euro RSCG and Saatchi and Saatchi Advertising, where she directed business development. During her stint as director of communications for De Post-La Poste, which is the national mail carrier, she developed an integrated communications strategy.

More recently, she served as chief operating officer at pay-for-view television network Canal and Benelux, and as director of network and marketing at Euronics (Selexion), an electronic appliance retailer with 225 locations.
