DTC gives four diamantaires 'accredited business' status

London—The Diamond Trading Co. (DTC) announced on Wednesday that it has chosen four diamond companies to be the first members of its new DTC Accredited Business Programme.

The four diamond companies are: Livingstones, Premier Diamond Cutting Ltd., Richold SA and Shree Ramkrishna Export.

The program allows members to enjoy "wide-ranging support" from the DTC.

To be chosen for the program, diamond companies must meet the same Best Practice Principles (BPP) requirements as DTC sightholders. The BPP is a set of criteria outlined by the DTC that includes business, social and environmental best practices.

In addition, as part of the program, each of these four companies has agreed to participate in the associated Assurance Programme, which entails independent third-party verification of their BPP compliance.

Mahair Borhanjoo, the DTC's new sales and client services director, said the four companies chosen are "world-class diamantaires" that the DTC is proud to publicly endorse as outstanding businesses.

"When the DTC completed the sightholders assessment process in 2008, we made it clear that there were a number of very strong applicants that did not qualify for supply because we did not have enough forecast availability. These four companies have been DTC customers of good standing over many years, and we are pleased to be able to maintain and build upon our relationships with them," he said.
