IGI spotlights new grading reports at JCK Invitational

New York—The International Gemological Institute (IGI) will showcase its recently launched IGI Laboratory Grown Diamond Report and its new IGI Journey Diamond Jewelry Passport at The JCK Invitational 2007 being held from Feb. 4-7 at the Hilton New York.

The IGI, which has been monitoring the growth of synthetic diamonds for decades, launched the IGI Laboratory Grown Diamond Report in January in response to the influx of commercially available lab-grown diamonds into the marketplace. The institute also felt the need to educate consumers on synthetic diamonds as well as to meet the increased demand from both its clients and the industry for this service.

The IGI Journey Diamond Jewelry Passport was created in support of the Diamond Promotion Service's Journey diamond jewelry campaign. It's a modified Jewelry Identification Report that provides a description of the diamonds contained in a piece of Journey jewelry, including individual and total carat weight, clarity, color, cut, finish, measurements, proportions and shape, as well as the identification, content and weight of any precious metals. As with all IGI reports, the internationally accepted system for diamond grading is used to determine these characteristics.

The IGI, the world's largest independent laboratory for testing and valuating gemstones and fine jewelry, was established in 1975 and is the only worldwide laboratory that has earned International Organization for Standards (ISO) accreditation in five countries: Canada, Hong Kong, India, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the United States. The IGI has offices in Antwerp, Belgium; Bangkok, Thailand; Dubai, UAE; Hong Kong; Los Angeles; Mumbai, India; New York City; Tokyo; and Toronto, and can be reached at IGIworldwide.com.
