Bellataire promotes Kulhanjian to U.S. sales director

November 30, 2007

New York—Bellataire LLC has announced the promotion of Melissa Kulhanjian to the position of director of U.S. sales.

Kulhanjian, a 30-year veteran of the diamond industry, started with Bellataire in 2001 as a regional sales manager. Prior to that, she spent 10 years as a business manager for jewelry designer Doris Panos. In the early 1980s, she was a buyer for the internationally renowned diamond dealer Andre Gumuchian.

She is a member of the Diamond Manufacturers and Importers Association of America, the Gemological Institute of America Alumni Association, the New York Diamond Dealers Club and the Women's Jewelry Association.

"Melissa is the consummate professional," Bellataire President Dave Bennett said in a statement. "She knows the product, cares about her customers and works tirelessly to make sure every one of our exclusive customers is successful."

According to Bellataire, a company that uses a patented high-pressure, high-temperature process to restore rare Type IIa natural diamonds to their original colorless state, Kulhanjian is taking on her new responsibilities at a time when the diamond industry is experiencing severe shortages and increasing prices in the large, high-color stones in which the company specializes.

"This is a great time for Bellataire," Kulhanjian said. "Unlike other segments of the trade, our diamonds have always been a unique opportunity for the seller and a true value proposition for the consumer. And now our inventory of beautiful colorless diamonds, three carats and up, are just what the industry is demanding."
