Sarin offers inside look at rough diamonds

Tel Aviv, Israel—Sarin Technologies has announced the launch of two new diamond-mapping tools that give a more accurate view of the interior and exterior of a rough diamond.

The trademarked products, DiaExpert Eye and TruScan, are meant to give diamond manufacturers an edge during the rough-diamond planning stage.

The DiaExpert Eye is a hardware tool for rough-diamond planning and mapping that gives users the ability to view the interior of a diamond to detect and chart inclusions with better accuracy than ever before, the company stated. With the technology used, it's possible to easily view inclusions as fine as VS1, in all color ranges, and even those that are transparent, with the goal of better optimizing the value of a stone. The machine measures stones between 3 and 28 millimeters in diameter.

TruScan offers laser mapping for the diamond-manufacturing industry, enabling detection of concave areas and grooves on a rough stone with more accuracy and speed than previously offered, Sarin said. The patent-pending solution is installed in the company's DiaExpert machine and projects numerous beams around the stone, making it possible to chart concavities and grooves that wouldn't have been identified using a single or double laser beam. The result is a 3D model designed to give the manufacturer a more accurate plan for the diamond, regardless of size.
