NCDIA launches natural-color diamond site

New York—The Natural Color Diamond Association (NCDIA) has announced the launch of a new Web site, www.ncidia.com.

Executive Director Sam Merksamer said expectations are high for the site.

"We expect NCDIA.com to be the No. 1 consumer resource for information on natural-color diamonds," he said in a statement.

The new site is designed to be consumer-friendly and reflect increased interest and demand in the product. Given the Internet's important role in helping consumers research jewelry before they buy, the site offers features such as a "Buyers Guide," "Retail Locator" and "Design Gallery."

The "Buyers Guide" includes information on rarity, origin of color, value, affordability and authenticity of natural-color diamonds. The site enables visitors to either search for more general information or to navigate by choosing a favorite color.

Consumers can find jewelry to purchase either through the "Retailer Locator" or the "Design Gallery." All stores and manufactures listed on the site are NCDIA members.

The site was designed by Loren Stomel Advertising Inc. of Culver City, Calif., and reflects research commissioned by the NCDIA on "Consumer Perceptions of Natural Color Diamonds."

"The newly designed Web site is only one segment of the overall, two-prong NCDIA strategy to provide education for the consumer and marketing support for the trade that will help to grow a natural-color diamond business," Merksamer added.
