Annual Rap conference slated for September

New York—Diamond-pricing guru Martin Rapaport is encouraging anyone interested in hearing about the future of the diamond industry to join him next month in New York City.

The annual Rapaport International Diamond Conference, this year titled "2010 —The Next Decade: The Future of the Diamond Industry," is scheduled for Sept. 8 from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. in The Grand Ballroom of The Waldorf-Astoria Hotel, located at 301 Park Ave. in New York City.

Sponsored by the Rapaport Group, the conference includes speakers from all sectors of the jewelry industry, such as Ralph Destino, chairman of the Gemological Institute of America; Neal Goldberg, president and Chief Executive Officer of Zale Corp.; and Rahul Kadakia, senior vice president of Christie's Americas.

Topics to be covered include the new economics of globalization, technology, branding and marketing, and commoditization.

Pricing for the conference starts at $100, a formal luncheon is included for $200, and $599 buys the conference, the luncheon and a one-night stay at The Waldorf-Astoria.
