WFDB to discuss how best to serve Asian members
January 06, 2009
Antwerp, Belgium--World Federation of Diamond Bourses (WFDB) President Avi Paz has invited the leadership of all WFDB-affiliated bourses in Asia to a summit meeting in Hong Kong on Jan. 7.
This includes the leaders of bourses in Bangkok, Thailand; Hong Kong; Mumbai, India; Shanghai, China; Singapore; and Tokyo.
It is part of Paz's ongoing efforts to increase communication and cooperation among the WFDB and its members worldwide.
"When I took office in May, I declared that one of my primary missions is to enhance our level of communication and cooperation. When the members of the WFDB act together, our ability to affect events is greatly enhanced," Paz said in a media release. "In addition, I emphasized that we would need to meet not only on those occasions when World Diamond Congresses and Presidents' Meetings take place, but also at other times, such as this particular meeting."
At the summit, Paz is expected to discuss how the WFDB can better serve its Asian members, how it can help them raise their profiles and vice versa, what the WFDB can do to make its members more competitive in the market and what the WFDB can do in general to boost diamond sales.
In addition, Paz is slated to offer a review of the tools the WFDB has developed to help bourse members and their respective diamond exchanges.
Also on the agenda is a detailed discussion regarding the implementation of the WFDB Mark program, the WFDB's Mark of Excellence.
