Bulgari helps 'Rewrite the Future' with new ring

A portion of sales from Bulgari's new sterling silver ring will be donated to Save the Children.

New York--To celebrate Bulgari's 125th anniversary, the luxury brand has chosen to support Save the Children, creating a special ring as part of a global campaign to help improve education for millions of children living in conflict-affected areas.

The ring was crafted in sterling silver in a nod to Bulgari's heritage (company founder Sotirio Bulgari began his work as a silversmith in the 1800s), and it features the Bulgari name scrolled on the outside and the Save the Children logo engraved on the inside. The ring is now on sale and will be available in all Bulgari stores throughout the world, as well as on Bulgari's e-commerce Web site, Shop.Bulgari.com, until the end of 2009.

The ring retails for $290, a portion of which will be donated to Save the Children's "Rewrite the Future" campaign, a two-year-old program that has already improved the quality of education for 5.7 million children. Bulgari will also make its own contribution to the not-for-profit organization, with the objective of raising 10 million euros, or $26.1 million, by the end of 2009.

Through Rewrite the Future, Save the Children has trained 25,000 teachers in the last year and has seen U.S. basic educational aid increase from $490 million to $694 million.

Dozens of Hollywood celebrities are supporting the campaign, with stars including Willem Dafoe, Isabella Rossellini and Ben Stiller wearing the ring on Bulgari's and Save the Children's Web sites.
