The fine jewelry division of fashion house Chanel is hosting "Nuits de Diamants," or "Night of Diamonds," in The Plaza Hotel's Grand Ballroom on Jan. 16. A new collection will not be launched at the seated dinner. However, millions of dollars worth of diamonds will be worn by guests and flown in from Paris.

The Manhattan landmark, which underwent a $400 million restoration, was once the venue for Truman Capote's "Black and White Ball," the wedding of Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas, and Sarah Jessica Parker's fortieth birthday party. The Grand Ballroom still has its original murals, balconies and curved ornamental railings.
