PGI-USA to deck TV stars in platinum for Emmys
September 09, 2008
Los Angeles—Platinum Guild International (PGI-USA) is once again helping celebrities to outfit themselves in platinum for the annual Emmy Awards. From Sept. 18-20, PGI-USA will host its annual Red Carpet Platinum Jewelry Preview, assisting celebrities and stylists as they prepare for the 60th Primetime Emmy Awards, airing Sunday, Sept. 21. Attendees will have the opportunity to select unique, exclusive and never-before-seen platinum jewelry from a wide range of designers and brands. More than $40 million worth of platinum jewelry and watches will be on display at this year's preview, with designers such as Erica Courtney, Franck Muller, Neil Lane and Piaget included in the mix. One special accessory this year is the never-before-seen "Platinum Clutch," a collaboration between award-winning costume designer Cate Adair and diamond jewelry brand Kwiat. The leather clutch is valued at more than $500,000 and features platinum design elements set with 60 carats of Kwiat diamonds. To make the event even more of a full-body experience, luxury Swiss skincare and beauty house La Prairie will debut its "Cellular Cream Platinum Rare," a facial cream that the company says harnesses the power of platinum. While the cream comes with a hefty price tag of $1,000 for a 1.7 ounce jar, attendees of the preview will receive an exclusive gift bag featuring a travel size jar, among other items. While indulging in all the event has to offer, attendees will also have the opportunity to give back to the community. Limited-edition "Platinum" iPods will be available for attending celebrities to sign, and the iPods will then be donated to a Clothes Off Our Back auction to support children's charities. The auction will go live online on Monday, Sept. 22, on Clothes Off Our Back's Web site, ClothesOffOurBack.org.
