Beverly Hills, Calif.—Atlanta recording artist
Leah DeVon, a soul singer who has opened for the likes of Earth, Wind and Fire and Destiny's Child, wore jewelry from award-winning designer and Zalemark founder
Steven Zale for her performance at the first Heal Breast Cancer Awareness Gala and Awards, held on Feb. 22 in Beverly Hills, Calif.
The rising star, who was chosen to be a part of the
Zalemark Inc. national jewelry campaign this year, first drew buzz on the Internet, particularly on social-networking site MySpace.com. Since the site's founding in 2003, independent recording artists have had the ability to bring their music to the ears of millions of
MySpace users. Last year, for six months, DeVon's Web page on MySpace was the No. 1 independent soul site. That statistic captured the attention of Torrey Adams, president of KhyKel Music Enterprises, who in turn recommended DeVon to perform at the Heal Breast Cancer Awareness Gala, founded by the Heal Breast Cancer Foundation.
For her performance, De Von donned Zale's 18-karat white gold and pavé diamond tear-drop pendant with a woven, six-strand 18-karat gold necklace. De Von performed "The Victory is Mine," a song from her new LP, "Come Over," and one that she felt was particularly appropriate for the event.
"It's a song about hope and inspiration. It's about stepping out on faith and affirming your destiny," she said in a statement.
