Zalemark expands presence in Southeast Asia

Saigon, Vietnam—Zalemark Inc., the Sherman Oaks, Calif.-based fine-jewelry manufacturer, is expanding its presence in Southeast Asia through a new partnership with Vietnamese jewelry manufacturer Phunhuan Jewelry Joinstock Co. (PNJ).

Last December, the U.S. Congress paved the way for American companies like Zalemark to establish business relationships in Vietnam, when it approved legislation extending permanent normal trade relations with the nation.

Under the agreement, PNJ will distribute two divisions of Zalemark—Demeter and Seventeen Jewelry Collection—in Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos. PNJ will also host a boutique manufacturing facility inside its own factory to manufacture Zalemark products at a quality level previously unattainable in Vietnam, Zalemark said in a statement.

To introduce Zalemark's collections to the public, Steven Zale, the company's design director, was feted at an Oct. 26 event in Saigon. Numerous national political figures and dignitaries, along with Miss Vietnam and Miss World, were on hand to view Zalemark's designs as well as to celebrate the partnership between the two companies.

"The launch of Demeter and Seventeen Jewelry Collection in Vietnam was kicked off by one of the most upscale and flawless presentations I have ever been involved with," Zale said. "I look forward to a most successful working relationship with PNJ."
