'Passion Awards' loom for bench jewelers

Spartanburg, S.C.--Organizers of the Bench Jewelers Conference have issued a call for entries to the fifth annual Bench Jewelers Passion Award Design Competition, a contest open to all professional bench jewelry artists and designers.

The competition consists of four categories: a CAD Rendering category and three categories of finished jewelry: Men's Jewelry, Ladies Rings and Ladies Jewelry (other than rings). Jewelers may enter up to three different pieces of jewelry or CAD renderings in one or more categories.

Photographs of the finished jewelry or CAD renderings must be submitted online, at http://benchconference.com/designcontest, with a completed entry form by March 20. The jewelry or renderings that are entered into the competition cannot be a winner of any previous design competitions. If submitting a CAD entry, all renderings must be original and created using 3D computer software by the jeweler entering the contest.

There is an entry fee of $35 per piece, and fees must be paid with a credit card at time of entry.

The competition will culminate during the Bench Jewelers Conference, taking place from April 23-25 in St. Louis, Mo. First- and second-place winners will be awarded in each category, and winners will be announced on Thursday, April 23. In addition, a Jewelers Choice Award, selected by jewelers attending the conference, will be presented on Saturday, April 25. All Passion Award winners will receive a trophy, cash award and will be publicized in trade publications.
