PGI to sponsor 12th annual WJA DIVA Awards
April 11, 2008
Chicago Ridge, Ill.—For the second year,
Platinum Guild International (PGI) will serve as the pillar sponsor of the
Women's Jewelry Association (WJA) Platinum DIVA Awards design competition.
The 2008 competition, themed "The Platinum Wedding," will feature jewelry designs in five categories: Everyday bridal ring trio suite; DIVA bridal suite (over $5,000 retail); jewels for the bride or bridal party; DIVA bridal jewelry (over $5,000); and Natural colored diamonds set in platinum, sponsored by the Natural Color Diamond Association.
To make the submission process easier this year, renderings or photography of actual product will be accepted. The deadline for entries is April 18, and digital images must be submitted via the WJA's online application system, found at the WJA's Web site,
Womensjewelry.org.
Winners will be feted at a cocktail party for WJA members and non-members to be held June 2 during the JCK Las Vegas show. The event will take place at Tao in the Venetian, where guests will enjoy cocktails, hors d'oeuvres and a raffle.
Winners in each of the five categories will receive a prize package of platinum benefits valued at $15,000. This includes a $1,000 cash prize, private two-hour consultation with PGI Director of Technical Education Jurgen Maerz, copies of all platinum technical materials produced by PGI, inclusion of the winning three-platinum-ring image in the design gallery on
Preciousplatinum.com and
Engagementguide.com, and more.
In addition, jewelry manufacturers Lieberfarb and Mercury Ring Corp. have volunteered to manufacture several of the rings, which will be on display at a press conference to be held in the Platinum Pavilion (Booth No. 300) at JCK Las Vegas on May 30.
