Finalists announced in HRD Design Contest

Belgium—The HRD Design Contest jury has selected 44 jewelry designers from 11 different countries as laureates in its biennial international diamond design contest.

Designers created pieces based on the theme "A Night at the Opera." The jury selected the laureates based on creativity, originality, wearability and craftsmanship.

Following an awards ceremony to be held on May 24, 2007, HRD will exhibit and promote the winning collection internationally, throughout 2007 and 2008. The first-prize winner will receive $6,414. Also, HRD will buy the winning jewel and donate it to the Diamond Museum Province of Antwerp for permanent display.

Launched in 1984 as the Antwerp Diamond Council Awards to support creativity and design excellence in contemporary diamond jewelry in Belgium, the HRD Awards expanded in 2003 to include international entries.

Entries had to include at least one carat of diamonds and precious metals or other materials.
