Bold gold among top trends at Couture

Las Vegas—Yellow-gold jewelry, textured finishes and layered necklaces were the top trends at the Couture show, which closed on Monday.

Exhibitors said that high-end retailers snapped up bold pieces, including chunky cuffs, medallions and cocktail rings, expecting those items to continue selling well through the holiday season. Other popular pieces included those with geometric shapes and designs based on nature and cultural themes.

Exact attendance figures were not immediately available, but Nielsen Expositions Jewelry Group Show Director for Couture Anita O'Boyle says she felt the new, extended format had offered "six days of success" for both exhibitors and retailers.

"Our focus this year was to regroup and refocus the Couture brand," she said. "Our work is not done yet. We will move this to the next level next year."

O'Boyle said show organizers hope to enhance the amenities available next year, making the show an oasis for attendees during the hectic Las Vegas market week.

For the first time this year, the Couture show abandoned its invitation-only policy, opening its doors to all qualified retailers.
