Sotheby's Geneva to auction exceptional jewels

Geneva—Jewelry by Cartier, Chanel and Van Cleef and Arpels will hit the auction block on Feb. 20 at Sotheby's Geneva's Magnificent Jewels and Precious Stones auction in St. Moritz, Switzerland.

The auction will take place at the Kulm Hotel, following a three-day exhibition of the jewelry.

Among the highlights of the collection is a "Panther" suite by Cartier that includes a necklace, earrings and brooch in diamonds and sapphires. The brooch, which can attach to the necklace, is shaped like a reclining panther with emerald eyes and a black onyx nose. The suite is estimated at $95,000 to $124,000.

This Cartier brooch, showing a peacock perched on an oval-shaped sapphire, is estimated at $26,400 to $37,100.
The collection will also present a "Nébuleuse" ring by Chanel that features a fancy-gray diamond weighing 18.17 carats in a spiral setting. The setting is inspired by the tail of a comet and is studded with pink diamonds. The ring is estimated at $380,000 to $560,000.

Another highlight is a diamond necklace and earrings set by Van Cleef and Arpels. The adjustable necklace can be worn in different ways and features a removable tassel. The set is estimated at $240,000 to $355,000.
