Survey: Harry Winston top luxury jewelry brand

New York—Uber-rich consumers rate Harry Winston as the leading luxury jewelry brand, according to the Luxury Institute's 2007 Luxury Brand Status Index.

Buccellati ranked second and Cartier placed third among the 20 luxury brands surveyed.

Brands rated, in alphabetical order, include: Asprey, Blue Nile, Boucheron, Buccellati, Bulgari, Carrera y Carrera, Cartier, Chanel, Chopard, David Yurman, De Beers, Dior, Fred, Graff, Gucci, Harry Winston, Mikimoto, Piaget, Tiffany and Van Cleef and Arpels.

The survey uses a "brand-referral" metric as well as a "next-brand purchase-intent" metric to understand the strength of the brand.

The Luxury Institute polls a national representative sample of more than 400 households with a minimum gross annual household income of $200,000 and a minimum household net worth of $5 million. The institute generates research that guides and educates high-net-worth individuals and the companies that cater to them on leading trends, best practices and wealthy-consumer and luxury-brand rankings.
