Large diamonds to highlight December auction

This 5.09-carat Asscher-cut diamond is just one of the highlights of the Heritage Fine Jewelry Signature Auction, scheduled for Dec. 8 in Dallas.

Dallas--Two big diamonds, one a fancy light pink, are slated to highlight Heritage's Fine Jewelry Signature Auction next month in Dallas.

Set in a platinum ring by Martin Flyer, the fancy light-pink diamond is a 4.03-carat stone cut into a cushion shape and estimated to fetch $150,000-$200,000.

"It's exceptionally rare to find a pink diamond in the 4-carat range and even rarer to find one that is GIA-certified Internally Flawless," Heritage Fine Jewelry Auction Director Jill Burgum said in a media release.

The other significant diamond highlighting the sale is a 5.09-carat unmounted Asscher-cut diamond, also estimated at $150,000-$200,000.

Rounding out the main suite of the auction is a "Chameleon" diamond ring, a piece featuring an oval-shaped fancy grayish-yellowish-green diamond weighing 2.25 carats.

It is estimated the ring will fetch $35,000-$45,000.

Burgum said this diamond changes color naturally, a characteristic that is extremely rare.

"At night, it's yellow," she said. "Under light, it is green. All of these diamonds are delightful, from the unmounted Asscher cut to the finished pieces of jewelry."

The Heritage Fine Jewelry Signature Auction is slated for Dec. 8 in Dallas.
