Italian newcomer Rosato captures U.S. market

November 09, 2009
Italian brand Rosato nailed accounts with 17 Neiman Marcus stores, which will be selling pieces such as these colorized sterling silver bangles.

Burbank, Calif.--Italian jewelry brand Rosato, which recently incorporated and secured U.S. offices in Burbank, Calif., is making a strong stateside debut with its designs now being showcased in independent jewelry stores and 17 Neiman Marcus store locations nationwide, the company announced.

In a press release issued last week, Rosato said it shipped its colorized sterling silver bracelet designs and new, hand-painted animal prints over 0.925 sterling silver to the Neiman Marcus stores at the end of October, and that the pieces will be showcased in the luxury department store chain beginning this month.

The brand has landed accounts with 30 stores across the country and the Caribbean, including Bettina Duncan at Fred Segal in Santa Monica, Calif., Darakjian Jewelers in Southfield, Mich., C.D. Peacock in Chicago, Higashi Pearls and Fine Jewelry in Lemoyne, Pa., and Diamonds International in the Caribbean.

Company founder, designer and owner Simona Rosato said in the press release that the brand's strong U.S. entry is proof positive that tough times offer creative opportunities.

"The best way to take advantage of this moment of doubt and uncertainty and overcome it successfully is to keep on believing in who we are and in what we do," Rosato said in the release. "We have to maintain the highest standards of our 'Made in Italy' signature, and focus on luxury and quality."

The brand's retail price points range from $250-$2,500, with average prices falling in the mid $450-$1,000 range.

According to Rosato President and General Manager Michael Pucci--a luxury veteran whose most recent stint was with the Italian fashion brand Rebecca--the company has sold nearly $1 million worth of product in the first six weeks of operation.

Rosato established the Rosato Co. in 2001 with a line of jewelry designs crafted in gold, enamels and other materials. She subsequently unveiled the Rosato brands's collection of whimsical charms and pendants in 2004, and established commercial distribution of the line, which quickly found success throughout Europe.

In addition to its wholesale business, the company also opened exclusive boutiques in several Italian cities, including Milan, Florence and Rome, as well as in Madrid, Spain. Rosato also owns 7AR, which manufacturers gold and sterling silver jewelry for several other Italian name brands.
