Christie's 'loves Lucy' at fall sale

New York—Christie's fall Magnificent Jewels sale will feature more than $25 million worth of jewels, including 10 pieces from the estate of Lucille Desiree Ball of I Love Lucy fame.

The sale will take place on Oct. 16 at the Rockefeller Center galleries in New York City.

The Ball collection features a number of signed pieces by Van Cleef and Arpels, including a suite of yellow sapphire and diamond jewelry that consists of a pendant necklace, ear clips and ring en suite estimated at $25,000-$35,000. A portion of the proceeds will benefit The Lucille Ball-Desi Arnaz Center in Jamestown, N.Y.

The auction will also feature a selection of special diamonds, including a 38.47-carat D-color VS1 diamond, estimated at $2.3 million-2.5 million, which is considered to be among the most important diamonds featured at auction in recent years. Also on the block will be colored gemstones such as a 71.54-carat cushion-cut Ceylon sapphire ring, estimated at $300,000-500,000, and a 19.05-carat cushion-cut alexandrite ring, estimated at $550,000-$650,000. In addition, Christie's will also offer a selection of signed pieces from Louis Comfort Tiffany, Boucheron and JAR.

In conjunction with the fall Magnificent Jewels sale, Christie's will offer a separate sale of 40 pieces from a private collection valued at $4 million. This collection is strong in pieces by Harry Winston.

The jewels can be viewed at Christie's Galleries, 20 Rockefeller Plaza, from Oct. 11-15.
