Macau, China—After its debut in 2008, the Macau Jewellery and Watch Fair will be back in 2009, with a show set for The Venetian Macao, in Halls D and E of the Cotai Strip Convention and Exhibition Center, from Jan. 8-11, 2009.

Organizers are touting it as the first and only international trade event to be held in Asia at the beginning of the year and the biggest diamond trade event in Macau.

"Macau is recognized as the Las Vegas of Asia," Celine Lau, director of jewelry fairs for CMP Asia, the show organizer, said in a press release. "Other than Hong Kong, Macau is also a free port, imposing no import or export duties or tariffs on goods and services for the jewelry traders. We believe that the Macau Jewellery and Watch Fair will enhance Asia's leading position in the international jewelry business."

More than 400 exhibitors from 19 countries and regions are expected to occupy more than 18,000 square meters of exhibition space, where a wide range of high-quality jewelry products will be on display, including: antique and estate jewelry, fine jewelry, finished jewelry, silver jewelry, diamonds, gemstones and pearls, technology and related products and services.

One of the highlights of the fair will be its 60-booth Fine Design Pavilion, in which renowned jewelry houses, high-end jewelers and private collectors from all over the world will be represented.

In addition, more than 120 leading diamond trade exhibitors from six countries and regions will exhibit in the Diamond Pavilion including Antwerp, Hong Kong, India, Israel, Thailand and the United States. Located in Hall D, the pavilion will display a wide spectrum of high-quality polished diamonds in white and fancy colors, all at different price ranges for buyers. In addition, more than 100 diamond jewelry manufacturers will showcase a dazzling array of glamorous pieces.
