Evening of enlightenment

On Monday, actress Debra Messing hosted a party celebrating the Agas and Tamar jewelry line. Agas and Tamar—which translates to "pear and date" in English—includes gold, precious and semiprecious stones, and ancient coin pieces. The Israeli collection is currently being sold at Donna Karan's Urban Zen store, which was the site for the party.

Karan has plans to open another Urban Zen location. The goal is to make consumers aware of the Urban Zen initiative, "whose mission is to unite conventional and alternative medical practices to invent new ways of healing, health and well-being." Karan is also encouraging tolerance and acceptance through Spirituality for Kids programs, which were inspired by a summer visit to Israel. It was the visit to the exotic locale that drew her to Agas and Tamar's designs. Eli Halili, creative director for Agas and Tamar remarks, "We're combining elements of the Old City with modern design."
