Los Angeles--Reality TV star and paparazzi-favorite Paris Hilton has become the latest victim of jewelry crime, after $2 million of the heiress' jewels were stolen from her Los Angeles home on Friday night.

According to police, the suspect--a man wearing a hooded sweatshirt and gloves--broke in through the front door of Hilton's home in the Sherman Oaks area of Los Angeles and ransacked her bedroom at about 5:00 a.m. on Friday, The Associated Press reported.

Hilton, who had been photographed on Thursday night at several Los Angeles hotspots, was not home at the time.

According to the AP, Hilton publicist Elliott Mintz said on Friday afternoon that he had no further information about the incident.

Hilton, heir to the hotel chain fortune of the same name, is known for being a socialite, model, singer and reality TV star.

She starred alongside friend Nicole Richie, daughter of singer Lionel Richie, for several seasons in The Simple Life, a show in which the two wealthy socialites try to adjust to a more mundane lifestyle.

More recently, Hilton starred in Paris Hilton's My New BFF, a reality show airing on MTV in which Hilton is searching for a new best friend.
